Where to Go
One of the hardest parts of planning a trip to Hawaii is deciding which island to spend time on! This tropical archipelago’s comprised of well over 100 of them; each one has its own unique atmosphere and attractions.
Nevertheless, there are a few “main” Hawaiian Islands we suggest choosing from:
Oahu
Busy and bustling, Oahu’s the most populated Hawaiian island of the lot. It’s also home to the capital city, Honolulu, as well as other iconic places including Pearl Harbor and Waikiki Beach. Head to Oahu for its energy, endless outdoor activities, sumptuous dining opportunities, and rocking night-life. Don’t forget one of our favorites Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa. The whole family can enjoy themselves and experience the rich history of the Hawaiian culture. Click here to book your Oahu Vacation!
The Big Island (Hawaii Island)
As its name suggests, the Big Island’s the largest one in the entire archipelago! Anybody who loves the outdoors will have a field day here. Boasting outlandish biodiversity, you’ll see everything from snow-capped volcanoes to lava spilling into the ocean. Click here to book your Hawaii (Big Island) Vacation!
Maui
Much-loved by celebrities, Maui’s a dream destination for beach-goers, outdoor enthusiasts, and anybody looking to relax. This is quintessential Hawaii! Nicknamed the “Honeymooner’s Isle”, you can watch the sunrise atop ancient volcanoes, drive along scenic coastal roads, sunbathe on black-sand beaches, and spot whales frolicking offshore. Kauai
Looking for laid-back vibes on a verdant, rainforest-strewn island that’s been featured in Hollywood classics like Jurassic Park? Visit Kauai (sometimes called the “Garden Isle” after the flora that covers its surface). Its dramatic coastline is world-famous, with sheer cliffs dropping into crystalline waters that’ll leave you speechless. Click here to book your Kauai Vacation!
When to Visit
Once you have an idea of where you want to go in Hawaii, the next crucial decision to make is when you’ll go. Nicely, the Hawaiian climate’s relatively temperate throughout the year, so there’s no real “bad time” to visit. But with the prices, ambiance, and quality of surf shifting with the seasons, it’s still worth putting some thought into!
The first thing to know here is that Hawaii has two main seasons: winter and summer, which translate to a wet and dry season, respectively. Winter runs from November to April and summer is between May and October. Expect warm weather at all times, yet far more rainfall (and much bigger swells!) in winter.
Want to avoid the crowds and get the best deals on accommodation?
Try to visit during the shoulder season, either between the middle of January and early March, or April and May. Oh, and we recommend skipping the winter holidays (i.e. Christmas and New Year) when crowds flock to Hawaii from all over.
